Q: How do I install the app?

A: Use the "Install" button on the app listing or follow the manual install URL. After installing, grant the requested permissions and the app will appear in your store admin.

Q: How is billing handled?

A: Billing is handled via Shopify Billing API. You can upgrade from the Billing page within the app; Shopify manages recurring charges.

Q: How do notifications work?

A: Customers request notification on product pages. When a variant is restocked, the app sends notifications via Email, SMS, or WhatsApp (based on plan and settings).

Q: Who pays for SMS / WhatsApp? (Setup Guide)

A: SMS and WhatsApp messages are sent via Twilio / Meta. **You pay directly to Twilio/Meta** (not us) — we just provide the integration. Enter your credentials in Settings → SMS/WhatsApp. Phone numbers must be in **E.164 format** (e.g., +91 98765 43210 for India, +1 555 123 4567 for US).

  2. Verify email/phone → Get Account SID & Auth Token from Console dashboard
  3. Go to Phone Numbers → Buy a number (~$1/month)

Meta WhatsApp Setup

  1. Sign up for Meta Business Manager (free)
  2. Go to Meta Developers → Create App → WhatsApp
  3. Verify business → Add phone number (dedicated, not personal WhatsApp)
  4. Get Phone Number ID & Access Token from API Setup
  5. Enter in app: Phone ID, Token, WhatsApp Number (+91XXXXXXXXXX)

Costs (billed to you): $0.005/message + Meta template fees (~$0.01-0.05/msg). No app fees.

Q: Why do I need Twilio credentials for SMS?

SMS notifications are delivered using Twilio, a third-party SMS provider. For security and billing reasons, merchants must connect their own Twilio account.

Q: Where do I get Twilio credentials?

You can create a Twilio account at Sign up at Twilio (free trial with $15 credit) . After signup, you’ll receive: Account SID Auth Token A verified Twilio phone number These credentials can be entered in the app under SMS Settings.

Q: How can I test SMS notifications?

After saving valid Twilio credentials, use the Send Test SMS option inside the app to verify delivery.

Q: How does WhatsApp notification work?

WhatsApp notifications use the WhatsApp Business API and require an approved provider and message templates.

Q: How can I test WhatsApp notifications?

Once WhatsApp API credentials and templates are configured, merchants can send test messages using the Test WhatsApp option inside the app. Note: WhatsApp notifications are available on supported plans only.

Q: Do Web Push notifications need setup?

No third-party setup is required. Customers opt in directly from the storefront notification form. Note: Web Push notifications are available on supported plans only.

Q: How do I delete my store data?

A: Uninstalling the app triggers our uninstall webhook which removes store-specific data. You can also request data deletion via support at BackinStockPro@avrhil.in.

Q: Can I customize the email template?

A: Yes — Pro & Premium merchants can edit the email HTML template from Settings → Email Templates. Free plan allows default templates only.

We Only Process the Minimum Data Needed

Back in Stock Notify Pro requests access to orders for one purpose only: to match completed purchases with previous back-in-stock notification requests and show merchants accurate recovered revenue and region insights (e.g., “$1,240 recovered from US customers”).

We process only:

  • Order ID, total amount, currency, and country
  • Customer email (only to match with notification requests)
  • No names, addresses, phone numbers, or payment details are stored or used

We Never Use Data Only for This Purpose

We never use order data for marketing, profiling, advertising, or sharing with third parties. The data is used exclusively to calculate and display recovered revenue in your dashboard.

About Your API Keys

When you connect SMTP, Twilio, or Meta (WhatsApp), we securely store your credentials in an encrypted database. This is required so we can send SMS/WhatsApp notifications on your behalf. Your keys are never logged, never shared, and are permanently deleted when you uninstall the app.

Customer Rights & Consent

Customers only receive notifications after explicitly clicking your “Notify Me” button — this is their consent. We do not send marketing emails or use data for automated decisions with legal effect.

Shopify DPA & GDPR/CCPA Compliant

We are fully compliant with Shopify’s Data Processing Addendum (DPA and all privacy laws.

You are responsible for configuring third-party services such as Twilio, Meta, and SMTP, and for complying with applicable privacy and messaging laws.

5. Limitation of Liability

We are not liable for message delivery failures caused by third-party providers or customer opt-outs.
